Cleveland, Ohio–November 7, 2012¬ . . . Well-known Northeast Ohio fitness professional and personal trainer Kim Scott Sowinski has released a DVD devoted to bringing the beauty of nature indoors for yoga practice.
Filmed within the Cleveland Metroparks, NatureAsana Yoga Flow + Core DVD guides viewers through a yoga practice with forward bending, twisting, and extending to work all six movements of the spine, while concentrating on one’s core: abdominals and back. “My hope is that this video will nourish your core with movement, while connecting with your breath for a healthy back, conditioned abs, better posture, and increased awareness.”
The yoga flow will also benefit those participating in sports, by increasing mental concentration, building muscular strength, endurance and flexibility. “I created this DVD in hopes of enhancing your athletic abilities, creating balance in your life, and honoring your body,” said Sowinski.
The DVD runs 55 minutes including a 15-minute “abs on your back” portion. All one needs is a yoga mat, optional block, and comfortable clothing.
Yoga is typically practiced in an indoor room where the instructor creates an ambiance of calmness through soft lights, soothing sounds, and aromatherapy. Sowinski has found a place to practice yoga that is the “real” thing” in a natural setting— the outdoors—with true sounds of birds, blowing leaves on trees, flowing wind, the trickling water of a brook, or simply the stillness of the air. “What a gift to be able to move your body in the beautiful outdoors,” said Sowinski.

“There is a union with body, mind and spirit that those who practice yoga experience,” said Sowinski. “When you add the extra element of the beautiful outdoors, you cannot help but feeling one with nature as well. This is what my new DVD is all about.”
The DVD, with partial proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, will be available in select retail stores and on-line beginning November 2012 at www.natureasana.com. Retail price is $19.95.

The Connection with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
With “service” being an integral component of practicing and living yoga, partial proceeds of the Nature Asana Yoga Flow & Core DVD are going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Sowinski’s sister has had Type 1 Diabetes for 38 years. Diagnosed at age 10, she has been Sowinski’s inspiration for wellness and gratitude.
JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, JDRF is now the largest charitable supporter of T1D research. The goal of JDRF research is to improve the lives of all people affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners who share this goal.
Since its founding in 1970, JDRF has awarded more than $1.6 billion to diabetes research. Past JDRF efforts have helped to significantly advance the care of people with this disease, and have expanded the critical scientific understanding of T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research-related education.
